( the right C A R D S )
Welcome to The Highlands. We all know that the first few days on a site can be stressful for not only the admins but the members as well; so let's all start out by reading the site rules and hopeful it will make all our problems easier.
( STARTING your journey )
Now that you have registered your account, there are a few things we need to go over before you can start role-playing on the site. I know it sounds like it is a lot of rules but this is only the beginning.
Now that you have made your account, let's start out with creating your character. Creating your character is very simple. Please keep to using normal names, like names from nature that the cat's would know! There are no restrictions to structure, however. Because a lot of these cats were loners or came from Clans and Tribes, there are a variety of names. If you can justify it, you are good to go.
When creating a cat; we do not allow powers of any sort. This includes flying, sensing feelings, fire manipulation, water manipulation, telekinesis or whatever else you are able to think of.
After your character has been created, you will need to wait until it is accepted to post in the boards any-where. If you are posting in the out of character or the other category, that is all-right though. While waiting for your character to be accepted, you cannot hassle the staff, wait until one of us has accepted your cat. If you have waited longer than three days, you can ask us to accept your character though.
( the FIRST time you play )
Once your character has been accepted, it will be moved to the accepted board where you can find it should you ever need to look back at your biography. Now, you can do a number of things. You can either start a thread with your character, make a plot page for your character, or you can put up a tracker for your characters, any of which you can do at any time.
When creating your first post for your character; there are a few things to remember. Our role-play is for third-person role-playing only, meaning that you should be talking with "He, she, they" not "I, me, we". Thinking is different, you can thin in first person should you choose.
We are a literate role-play and so we expect the posts in our forum to be full sentences. This includes capitalization, correct grammar, and punctuation, as well as proper spelling. We do not have a word count, but we expect that if you are posting with someone that has four hundred words; you should be trying to match their post at the very least.
When making a plot page, please limit it to one per player and just add new cats. This will also make it easier to keep track of who plays who. If you are creating a character tracker, you are only allowed to make one. If you have many characters and keep adding to you can do so but you need to be able to do that without creating a new one. If you are in need of a new tracker, you can do so; but only if you ask the owner delete the tracker for you so you can start over.
( CHATTING it up )
The chat-box is located at the bottom of the screen. While it is there, this is for the members that choose to use it. If you do not want to, don't! Members are allowed to talk about anything on here, but there is no advertising, spamming, role-playing, or mimicking on the chat-box.
We do not allow advertising of any sort. If you have a link behind your name in a house; that is not considered to be advertising. If you are posting the link in the box, that is!It does not matter if you are from this site or not, there will be no advertising on the site's chat-box. We have a board for that.
Spamming and role-playing are not allowed in the chat-box because it can disrupt from the order of the chat-box. Spamming is when you put five or more posts of complete non-sense or smiley faces up in a row. Should you do this; you will be warned, the next time you do this you will lose your privileges to the chat-box.
Role-playing in the chat-box is annoying and quite ridiculous. We have boards dedicated to role-play and if you are not going to use them then this isn't the site for you.
As for mimicking; this is when you are mimicking staff, or taking authority into your own hands. If you see something wrong; use Print Screen and CTRL + C and send it to Sousa; we will handle it from there.
( the character's LIFE )
There are to be no mutations of cats, no foxes, and no badgers role-played. If there is ever an opportunity for this; it will most likely be within a plot an in no other way will you be able to do so. That also means that once the plot is over you will have to kill off the creatures.
When role-playing these cat's, remember that this board is meant to be PG13 in rating. This is only because of violence, and even then the violence that happens will not be too extreme. We insist that if you are on this forum and younger than thirteen that you should have your parents consent before you are allowed. We would rather you didn't get in trouble.
Cat's can't swear. They just don't. If you are going to have a swear word in your post at all; it can only be in the context of the post, but not in what your character is saying. This also means that your character cannot think in swear words.
The staff LOVE odd cats, but please ask before trying to make a cat seriously unique. Insane cats, physically rare cats, et cetera need to be cleared through pm first.
Please make separate accounts for each character. The only exception is kits; any unadapted kits in a litter can be power played by the mother or father. Non-rp accounts are for admins only.
( ENJOY YOUR STAY ) love, SousaBY DANNIBABY @ CAUTION
