"Welcome to the Highlands." A wise looking cat steps out from the shadows. Although she is clearly very powerful, her head is bowed to you in a submissive greeting. "I will try to explain things as concisely as I can so you can decide quickly weather or not you wish to stay in The Highlands. It is not my desire to waste your time.
"I am Boneclaw, a Medic here in the Highlands. I am one of the two founders of the group of cats you may become part of. Although we have found a way that works and as a whole we are thriving, we have not always been so lucky. We were once plaques by war. This is, in short, the story so far..." The small brown she-cat sighed tiredly and curled up, motioning with her tail for you to do the same.
"Decades ago, before the Highlands, many cats lived in The High Lands. We were strong in numbers, four Clans of cats -SkyClan, FireClan, RockClan and Where I come from, IceClan. We shared the day and lived in peace, assisting each other in hunting parties and carrying for the sick. But there is always trouble, and it was bound to start. And it did so with FireClan. They were targeted first by The Stykers,a group of massive cats that must have been crossbreed with mountain lions or panthers. Assisted by a wolf pack, they destroyed the Leader, Deputy and Medic of FireClan. But even worse, the evil animals took the lives of very Warrior, Queen, Kit and Elder. They were left with only Apprentices. With no way to name a new Leader - for there was no one who fit the credentials - they began to be k own as FallenClan. Cats from the other Clans offered to let them merge or to send warriors to finish their training and appoint a new leader but the proud Apprentices refused to be seen as broken. They helped each other and they kept their Apprentice names, even when they were old enough to have been given a new name.
"Seasons later, everyone had almost forgotten The Strykers. But they had not forgotten us. Hey had been watching us by night and learning our patterns. When I was eight moons old, we were attacked. Luckily (though it pains me to use that word) the wild cats split their forces I to four groups and their attack was weak. We lost only a few warriors. And my Mentor. I became the full Medicine Cat of IceClan at only eight moons of age.
"Although our numbers were not obliterated, word from the other Clans made it to us and they had not been as lucky as we had. Half their Clans or me were obliterated. Snowstar, our Leader and my father, sent a patrol of nine cats to find a new land for us to live in. He went with them and left his son and deputy, Sleetfoot, in charge of the Clan. Snowstar never returned.
"A few moons later, we were attacked again. This time, there were almost no survivors. I escaped with Sleetfoot from our decimated camp. Although I tried to convince my brother to come with,e to find our father, he said he could not face the Leader after what he had allowed. Sleetfoot fled The High Lands. I made my way to the other camps to gather any survivors. There were only four others. With heavy hearts, we fled our homes in search of a new one.
"We traveled for moons in search of a place that we could settle down. The five of us grew very close in that short time and they became my new family. When we finally found a place, Thistlepaw had died. But even in dark times there can be light. We had found Snowstar and his new camp! But we weren't the only cats settling in these lands.
"Many small groups of loners and rogues lived in this area, but it the territory was more then enough to support everyone. After a few moons of living as separate groups, I went to Snowstar and proposed this idea: we live as one 'Clan' but in separate groups that cater to our strengths. The cats who love the water, those that love the skies and those who hunt in packs and darkness. There would be Medics who floated from camp to camp to help everyone. There would be Scouts who would watch the lands for large predators. And the safest part if my proposal was the idea of a large, hidden valley to keep the queens and elders.
"He enjoyed my idea, but did not know such a place. I did. After he was satisfied, he asked the groups of cats to a gathering where he explained my plan in detail as well as outlined the mutual benefit of all cats. It was a unanimous decision. And now, we have what you see here. One group of cats that live in four separate areas for protection and health. Everyone is valued and everyone is safe." She smiled softly, dipping her head.
